Practice owner and dermatologic surgeon Dr. Eric Finzi and psychiatrist Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal of Capital Clinical Research Associates are conducting a double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled clinical trial to investigate Botulinum Toxin A, commonly known as Botox Cosmetic, as a treatment for depression. The clinical trial is a follow up to Dr. Finzi's May 2006 published pilot study that found 9 out of 10 moderately to severely depressed persons were no longer clinically depressed after Botox treatment to the glabellar.
